Corto Maltes Amazonia Lodge Puerto Maldonado Is located on the banks of the Madre de Dios at hardly 30 minutes' navigation from Puerto Maldonado, Peru’s capital of the biodiversity.
Corto Maltes Amazonia Lodge offers you to experience a trip based on ecotourism in the famous Amazonian rain forest.
This lodge will be the starting point of expeditions through the jungle. You will go to discover Lake Sandoval, whose fauna and flora are stunning and luxuriant, the Monkey Island, the parrots' clay pecking, the Fitzcarrald boat, as well as a huge diversity of medicinal and curative plants such as Ayahuasca.
Corto Maltes Amazonia Lodge is built on the bank of the Madre de Dios and stretches on a surface area of 60 hectares. It is also lined with a quebrada (a river coming from the depths of the jungle) which is protected by the Tambopata Candamo National Reserve.
It is on this mysterious river that we will invite you to discover the thousands and one wonders of fauna and flora of this real natural paradise.
During the walk in the jungle, you will also discover a large variety of trees and medicinal plants.
The guides will be delighted to teach you all about this environment with professionalism and a very particular kindness.
Corto Maltes Amazonia has 22 bungalows made of exotic wood with all needed comfort: private bathroom with permanent hot water, electricity, excellent bedding (1 double bed and 1 single bed), as well as a very pleasant deck with two hammocks from where you can admire fabulous sunsets.
Common area: Spacious restaurant, large and pleasant deck, bar, shop, all of them overlooking the river and the garden.
Kitchen: Prepared by a French cook who combines with refinement and imagination local products. Very special attention is given to the vegetarian customers.
CORTO MALTES AMAZONIA PROGRAM
3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS
1st Day:
11:30 Reception at the airport and transfer to the office.
12:30 Board the boat at Capitania Port to go to the lodge which is 30 minutes downstream.
13:00 Arrival at the lodge “Corto Maltes Amazonia”, reception with a welcome drink, accommodation to your bungalows and lunch.
15:00 Time to go for the first excursion into the tropical rain forest to discover the great variety of medicinal plants, amazing trees, insects and butterflies. In the way you will stop at the view point to watch birds then you go back to the lodge the activity will take between 2 to 3 hours approximately, and before diner time you will go to a night trip by boat for a fun 'caiman spotting'.
20:00 Supper.
2nd Day: PARROTS CLAY LICK “COLLPA” * LAKE SANDOVAL * MONKEY ISLAND
05:30 You will get up at 05:30AM for a short trek of 20 minutes until the clay lick where you can see different species of parrots coming down from the trees to the wall of soil, to eat the special clay. It really is an exciting and fantastic sight.
8:00 Breakfast and free time until...
1030 the time to board the boat for an expedition to Monkey Island, where some species of these interesting animals live in total freedom. An unforgettable time.
Go back to the boat to sail for 30 minutes upstream until to arrive at the port of the lake. You will stop in the control post of the Tambopata National Reserve to register yourselves then, you will have a walk of 5 kilometres (3.2 miles) through exuberant tropical vegetation before arriving to the lake, and feasting on a delicious picnic lunch there.
The lake is a special place where you can find numerous species of animals like Giant Otters, smalls and larges birds like Hoatzins, Kingfishers and Anhingas (Snake bird), monkeys such as Howler Monkeys, Squirrel Monkeys, dusky titi monkeys and Capuchines, fishes like the famous Pirhana and the giant Paiche that can measure up to 2.50m and weigh more than 180kgs. All of this can be discovered comfortably by canoeing,
return to the river walking just 3 kilometers and then board the boat to going back to the lodge.
20:00 Supper, and the people who wants can carry out the tarantula expedition around the lodge before supper.
THE LAST DAY
7:45 Breakfast and board the boat returning to town. A visit the local market of Puerto Maldonado
10:15 Arrival at the airport.
