Heliconia Amazon River Lodge Iquitos Peru Heliconia Lodge an authentic eco-lodge, is located on the shores of the Amazon River, on the Yanamono community, 50 miles downriver from the city of Iquitos in Peru.

The lodge is named after the beautiful and spectacular Heliconia Flower, a species of flower that is highly prized in the world for its brilliant colors and exotic form. We have the finest collection of Amazonian Heliconias that grow inside our lodge area and surrounding areas.

The lodge is build of wood and typical jungle material. Our environmentally friendly construction has modern conveniences and high safety standards, Guest rooms, restaurant, lobby and bar are completely protected with mosquito screening and connected by palm leave roof passageways.

Electricity is available 2 hours in the morning and 5 hours at night. From 1000pm to 600 am the Heliconia lodge is lit up by kerosene lamps.

Heliconia Amazon Lodge features 21 spacious rooms (15 double and 6 triple rooms) with private bathroom and hot water. Just the bathrooms are built entirely in concrete, covered with tiles. Purified water is brought in from Iquitos and it is available at all times.

All the packages at Heliconia Amazon River Lodge include the following services:
. Daily breakfast, lunch and dinner.
. Self service of coffee, tea and water.
. Transportation from the Iquitos airport on modern boats that have 115 hp outboard motors with comfortable seats and life vests. Transportation time of approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

All our guides at Heliconia, are native to the Amazon forest, having been born in Iquitos and in the surrounding jungle villages and have grown up with the knowledge and enthusiasm only nature can provide. Our guides communicate with simplicity and have absolute confidence in their abilities and are able to respond any question that even a biologist can throw at them. They are bilingual, Spanish and English.
